Economic Analysis is a small team, headed by the Chief Economist (a member of the senior leadership team), within Finance. Its objective is to support Abbey's business by providing high quality analysis of external economic and business market developments and trends, so that Abbey can
The primary role of the post is to support the work of the Chief Economist. This most directly involves sourcing economic information, maintaining economic databases, preparing presentations and working on specific projects.

The postholder will be involved in responding to requests for economic information, working on specific areas of economic and business interest, contributing to risk monitoring work and to ongoing economic forecasting.

He / she will be expected to keep him / herself up to date with economic and business market news and with the views of other economic analysts. He / she will be expected to be proactive in bringing information / issues to the attention of the members of the team.

He / she will be involved in working with other departments (predominantly Marketing and Risk) to address issues as appropriate and to work closely with others in Finance on providing information for regular reports to Santander.

The postholder will (eventually) be given responsibility for writing the draft of the Weekly Economic and Housing Market News - a one-page commentary sheet that is widely circulated in Abbey.
