Consultant Relations Manager

Position Description:

Our consultant relationships play a critical role in building recognition of Wellington Management's investment expertise, and in ultimate inclusion in investment manager searches and improved retention of common clients. Consultant coverage is critical as over 75% of new searches are connected to consultants. The position requires the ability to develop effective relationships with external research staff and field consultants, as well as other functional groups within Wellington Management. In particular, the Consultant Relations Manager will work closely with many internal groups to ensure effective coverage at all levels of the consulting firm within his/her assigned territory.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:
  • Work closely with Product Management, Portfolio Management, Business Development, and Relationship Management to establish an agenda that appropriately positions our firm, our capabilities, and products with each individual consulting firm.
  • In conjunction with business developers, meet with consultant research staff and field consultants on a regular basis to develop their knowledge of the firm, our capabilities, and product strategies.
  • Orchestrate product rollouts, consultant marketing strategy initiatives and special projects related to the consultants.
  • Organize and host periodic consultant/client relationship reviews with key consultants and appropriate WMC constituent groups. Obtain regular feedback from consultant regarding the firm, our capabilities, and strategies and industry trends and share broadly across the firm.
  • Participate in consultant, vendor and industry conferences.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have at least eight to ten years of relevant industry experience, as well as significant understanding of investment concepts. A CFA, MBA, or other advanced degree is strongly preferred. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, candidates must be team players and have the ability to partner effectively with colleagues. Candidates must be effective and creative communicators, with strong writing skills.
