An exciting opportunity exists to join Deloitte’s Global IFRS and Offering Services (“GIOS”). In less than nine years, this service line has grown from a few professionals based in New York to a network of more than 150 professionals worldwide operating in over 14 different countries. Initially set up to raise capital for companies in cross-border markets, this global group has expanded into a number of attest and non-attest service roles working with both US GAAP and IRFS clients. Working in this group, you will be involved in a mixture of work including the transaction finance generation, US GAAP and IFRS compliance and providing support to member firms globally where clients are initially implementing IFRS. Expand your skills through a varied workload and multiply your options The GIOS financial instruments group works on various projects that are related to the banking industry. In this group you will gain exposure to projects ranging from listings on the AIM marketplace through to consultation on technical aspects of US GAAP or IFRS literature applicable to financial instruments and derivatives. You will have the opportunity to be involved with the review of financial instruments disclosures for all US GAAP reporting entities reviewed by GOS, including SEC filers of Forms 10-K and 20-F, non-UK based AIM listed companies, and certain US referral engagements. As part of this team, there is also scope for you to be involved in the UK firm's national Financial Instrument Specialist (FIS) network. This allows us to perform derivative and financial instrument consultation for IFRS-reporting audit clients, consulting on the accounting treatment of financial instruments, the application of hedge accounting, and the valuation of derivative instruments. In certain instances members of our team participate directly on audit engagements to support the audit function where technical expertise or SEC accreditation might be needed. - Review financial instruments disclosure for all US GAPP reporting entities
To be considered you would ideally have/be: - A 2:1 degree with strong A-level results or equivalent qualifications or experience
- CPA/ACA qualified (preferably with first time passes) or equivalent qualification or experience
- Knowledge of banking/lending/financial institution industry (i.e. experience with one or more clients)
- Knowledge of trading i.e. having clients that are active traders in derivatives (including commodities) or have trading departments
- Experience with SEC filings and requirements
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following (SFAS 140, SFAS 133, IAS 39/32, IFRS 7, SFAS 157/159, FIN 46R, SFAS 150, EITF D-98/00-19/00-6)
- Knowledge of reporting requirements under SFAS 107/157/IFRS 7/ SEC Qualitative and Quantitative Disclosures
- Ability to travel as required by this role
- Ability to develop strong client relationships
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports
