Job Purpose:

  • Overall accountability for planning and delivering the new account volumes for the UK Consumer business including egg branded, Citi branded and partnerships
  • Ensure optimised approach across egg, Citi and partnerships in terms of CPA and account profitability
  • Job background/ context:

    Reporting to the Head of Card Product Management in the Card Product Group this role will be accountable for delivering account goals and will be responsible for interfacing with key internal stakeholders, including Partnerships, Marketing, e-business and Sales.

    Key responsibilities:

  • As part of the planning process, determine account targets for UK Consumer business including egg branded, Citi branded and partnerships ensuring all key stakeholders are aware of plans. Targets to be driven by business growth ambition, historic volumes, card market performance and competitor activity
  • Determine card propositions to be marketed to drive account targets
  • Review, challenge and approve planned media mix to ensure efficiency of marketing spend and profitability of accounts booked
  • Ensure marketing budget of $62MM is appropriately spent across brands and products to drive optimum profitable growth
  • Responsibility for ensuring that planned activity meets business goals for account profitability
  • Monitor performance versus account plans, ensuring action is taken on underperforming activity to meet account targets
  • Monitor performance of new accounts versus plan proforma to ensure profitability of booked accounts, working with portfolio team to drive required behaviours
  • Identify developments required to improve account volume acquisition and new account profitability
  • Work with Sales team to ensure optimisation of key conversion metrics (leads to application, application start to submit, accept to account and accounts to activated accounts)
  • Work with Credit to ensure scorecard performance delivers to expectations to maximise acceptance of profitable accounts
  • Work with Operations and Marketing to ensure that on boarding of accounts is effectively managed to drive key account behaviours
  • Review competitor landscape to ensure UK Consumer is leading the market in relation to acquisition
  • Approval of all acquisition campaign material
  • Manage team of two acquisition mangers
  • Development value:

    This role is a key role within the card product team with exposure to the Card Head and involving senior level interactions with key internal stakeholders. The role holder will be considered an expert in optimising the acquisition strategy.

    Skills

    Knowledge/ experience:

  • Experience of card acquisition in a developed market
  • Experience of multiple channel acquisition approach
  • Proven ability to influence others to drive commercial benefit
  • Strong understanding of the card industry including key commercial drivers
  • Experience of commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of UK market trends and competitor activity Skills:
  • Analytical skills to identify trends and evaluate performance
  • Strong commercial acumen to drive profitable account volumes
  • Managing cross functional teams outside of direct reporting lines to deliver tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Prepare and present recommendations to gain business approval
  • Work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels
  • Qualifications:

  • Banking qualifications desirable but not essential
  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
