Moody’s Wall Street Analytics International Inc. requires a senior developer in its London office. The developer will create a new web based application and extend the functionality of two desktop applications – both of which connect to centrally managed application and data servers.

The Department

Moodys Wall Street Analytics International Inc(MWSA) is a leading financial software provider in the specialised area of asset securitisation. MWSA's applications are used by a wide range of market participants to model and evaluate collateralised debt obligations (CDO) and mortgage-backed securities (MBS).

The Role

MWSA requires a senior developer in its London office. The developer will create a new web based application and extend the functionality of two desktop applications - both of which connect to centrally managed application and data servers.

In addition, the developer will identify and troubleshoot issues in our current desktop applications reported by clients based in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

The senior developer will create the user interface for a new web site using AJAX and Abode Flex technology. AJAX development requires knowledge of HTML, DHTML, XML and JavaScript. Familiarity with server side Java and Oracle is also required, since the AJAX front end will interact with these back end technologies. The purpose of the new site is to assist investors and potential investors in structured finance instruments analyze prospective cashflows generated by these instruments under various scenarios.

In addition, the senior developer will add functionality to desktop applications that are written in C++. The developer should thus be familiar with this programming language. The desktop applications enable users to structure, administer and analyze structured finance transactions. One is focused on Collateralized Debt Obligations; the other is used in conjunction with Asset Backed Securities.

The senior developer will be working remotely from the rest of the software team (which is based in San Francisco), so the individual must be capable of working independently.

Qualifications

* Strong academic background (Bachelors / Masters Degree or equivalent) in a relevant discpline

Languages

* Fluent in English

* Fluency in a second European language highly desirable

Experience

* Substantial experience in application development

Technical Skills

* Web Application Development using AJAX, Flex, XML, DHTML and CSS

* Database Administration skills using RDMS (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase or MySQL are all acceptable)

* Java Server technologies such as J2EE and JSP

* C++ (which is used by our desktop applications)

Non Technical Skills

* Good written, verbal communication, and presentation skills

* Excellent organisational skills

* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships - at all levels

* Willingness to stay up to date with new technologies

* Excellent attention to detail

* Pro-active attitude with the ability to multi-task

* Ability to work to tight deadlines

* Excellent problem solving skills
