POSITION SUMMARY The Director, Partnership Finance & Tax provides guidance and support for the execution of financial, analytical and tax matters relating to both partners individually and the partnership overall.  The Director integrates new knowledge and skills into daily work and shares with colleagues as appropriate. This position works closely with the Director of Partner Matters in Human Resources ( HR ) to provide information to partners, as well as support various partner-related processes.  In conjunction with the firm Leader-Finance and finance staff, the Director assists in the implementation of the appropriate best practices initiatives to support the one-firm concept, particularly reassessment of the entire partnership return process. This individual supports and enhances internal business unit and firm operations by acquiring knowledge of office and firm operations; identifying opportunities for improvement and enthusiastically leading and / or participating in internal projects and operations; as well as complying with all firm standards and upholding those standards to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: -Provide support to the Accounting and Finance function and the Chief Financial Officer. -Work with HR and HR-Partner Matters to provide information and support on-going partner related processes. -Develop periodic communications to partners regarding financial and tax matters. -Coordinate and prepare financial packages and tax information for partners. -Participate, review and prepare input to annual, quarterly and monthly financial statements. -Assess current system and processes relating to partner financial and tax matters. -Review monthly financial statements. -Prepare spreadsheets/analysis as needed. -Responsible for partner payments, including the monthly draw process, special draws, and the annual settlement process. -Primary support for the annual partner compensation process. -Provide regular information about retirement payments for partners, including a retirement calculator that partners could access themselves. -Work with Financial Planning and Analysis to determine future capital needs, including the necessity and size of capital calls from the partnership. -Prepare monthly financial analyses of variances to ensure allocation of expenses as they are properly processed. -Work with HR to ensure related benefits, including health and parking, are processed correctly and timely for the partners. -Oversight for tax matter accounts, monthly processing and reconciliations and budgets and the work performed within the group. -Monitor compliance with provisions of partnership agreement and changes in partner status. -Review tax and financial documents that relate to partnerships. -Interact with tax service line resources concerning partnership returns. -Propose innovative tax strategies for the partnership returns for consideration by the Senior Leadership Team. -Interact with external regulators. -Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion. -Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis to maintain and expand knowledge in area of expertise. -Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

Skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS -Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA or CPA candidate required. -Minimum of 12 years of public or private accounting experience. -Strong financial and analytical skills. -Understanding of capital and equity requirements for partnerships. -Transaction and / or project accounting experience preferred. -Member of the tax practice of a national, regional or Big 4 accounting firm. -Strong tax research skills. -Strong tax compliance skills. -Diversity of tax experience including federal and state taxes for partnerships. -Strong leadership and staff development skills, and significant experience in supervising. -Strong PC skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Access. -Strong work ethic and a team player. -Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. -Proven relationship management and skills. -Ability to work additional hours as needed.
