We are based in the heart of one of GCC's most progressive and dynamic countries at Manama, Bahrain and have close ties with several industry groups - Central Bank of Bahrain (Supervision and Other Directorates), Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions, who drafts and issues, financial accounting and reporting standards for Islamic Financial Institutions, Bahrain Insurance Association and others. The specialist areas within audit that are currently recruiting are:

Islamic financial services

KPMG has recently been named the Euro Money's Best Islamic Assurance Services Provider. In Bahrain, we are a Centre of Excellence in Islamic investment banking and have a wealth of expertise in the industry. In Bahrain, KPMG audits and advises among others, a number of Islamic investment banks, the AAOIFI and others in audit related services such as product structuring, IFRS and AAOIFI compliance, building and maintaining chart of accounts, selection of accounting policies and drafting accounting policy manuals etc.

Conventional banking - retail and wholesale

We audit a number of entities who have a significant presence in Bahrain, prominent among them being Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, ICICI, and other multinational entities. Our conventional banking clients form the bedrock of our financial services audit clients.

Insurance

KPMG has focused on the insurance industry for over 30 years. Our global insurance practice covers 80 financial centres around the world. In Bahrain, we provide audit and financial advisory services to the leading insurers and are leaders in both the life and non-life markets. We audit a number of leading Islamic (Takaful and Re-takaful) Insurance service providers and conventional insurance companies in Bahrain and advise on industry specific reporting and compliance issues etc.

Investment Management

We have a market leading share of the audit and administration of Bahrain's investment funds, and our fund clients include hedge funds, mutual funds, investment trusts and private equity vehicles. We also work with many of the well known investment managers and investment administrators. Our range of clients vary from relatively small hedge fund / private equity start ups to some of the largest global investment managers and administrators, which are often part of global banking or insurance clients of KPMG, listed across the world.

 

The Role

The main objective of this job role is to assist the Director in Charge in the execution of core Registrar duties and maintain high standards at all times in delivering quality service to clients. To ensure that thorough quality controls are applied to every client engagement by adhering to KPMG Global standards.

The Responsibilities and accountabilities

The Assistant Manager is responsible to carry out duties as instructed by Partner and Director from time to time including back-up for absent staff.

Responsible for linking the overall department functions to firm's business strategy, including all aspects of support staff management, performance management etc for the following job holders:

1. Supervisor

2. Staff Accountant

3. Senior

4. Clerk

5. Office Boys

Responsibilities include negotiating and closing deals with clients, maintaining and building Client Relation, Legal and commercial documentation, Interface between Client and internal departments.

The job also requires to procedures in place to avoid common problems and facing complex situations.

Demonstrate professionalism and competence in the client's environment. Maintain a strong client focus, be responsive to their requests and develop/maintain productive working relationships with client personnel.

Develop self through teamwork and integrity. Collaborate with team members to achieve goals and take responsibilities.

Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members and enhance service delivery.

Bring potential opportunities to the team's attention. Seek, develop, and present ideas to apply KPMG's knowledge and services. Apart from this the Assistant Manager is responsible and accountable for organizing, monitoring, supervising, controlling and implementing the below mentioned department activities:

  • Carrying out CDS operations-
  • Liaison with other stock exchanges
  • Calculation of dividend and Bonus
  • Audit Confirmations
  • Pledge & Release Transactions
  • Printing of cheques and share, bond, fund and Remat certificates
  • Updating of clients register
  • Funds Transactions
  • Issuing of Duplicate share certificates
  • Shareholder Correspondence
  • Merging & Splitting of shares
  • Invoicing
  • Accounts Receivable

Experience & Qualifications

  • Post Graduate with a minimum 5-6 years experience in similar role
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (desirable but not essential)
  • PC literate, Windows, especially Excel & Access
  • Speak, read and write English and Arabic fluently
