Financial Risk Management (FRM) is an integrated group comprised of our underlying Financial Services risk management, regulatory advisory and actuarial service areas. We have 160 UK-based advisers and are looking to grow to 200 in 2008.

We have recently merged with our corresponding German and Swiss practices to become the first European-wide risk practice of the Big Four. Each service area provides solutions to our clients in their underlying area of specialist knowledge and we work together in supporting our clients across the broad field of risk, governance and compliance issues that they face. Our focus is on providing commercially relevant advice underpinned by a thorough understanding of the underlying technical content. We work extensively with KPMG's other advisory service lines on supporting transactions, investigations and wider consulting engagements for our clients.

Prudential Regulatory Team

This specialist team focuses on advising clients on prudential matters including:

· Assisting firms in understanding the impact of prudential developments such as Basel II and the Capital Requirements Directive;

· Providing practical support to firms in developing the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP);

· Providing detailed guidance on the application of prudential capital rules contained in the GENPRU and BIPRU sourcebooks (and other prudential sourcebooks as applicable e.g. IPRU INV);

· Providing advice in relation to regulatory reporting requirements;

· Assisting with applications to the Financial Services Authority for Part IV permission;

· Providing advice on capital planning and efficient capital structures;

· Assisting on regulatory due diligence projects;

· Working with other KPMG colleagues on multi-disciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the delivery of client engagements as part of a team or working autonomously
  • Managing smaller engagements including planning, scoping and staff management
  • Identifying business development opportunities and escalating to more senior members of the team where necessary
  • Mentoring and coaching of other less experienced team members Assisting with the preparation of client proposals, risk management procedures etc
  • Support KPMG's efforts in relation to sales and marketing, Research and Development and Knowledge Management
  • Develop and keep abreast with changes in specialism through research, attendance at conferences etc feed this back to the rest of the FRM team

    The Individual
    · Relevant financial services experience with a prudential regulatory focus, either as part of a financial services firm, in an advisory capacity or in the regulation of such firms.

    · Experience of investment or corporate banks and/or investment and excellent technical knowledge of prudential regulatory issues (including one or more of: CRD, Basel II, ICAAP, capital requirements, regulatory reporting, FSA authorisations etc).

    · Understanding of financial services firms' businesses, structures, governance frameworks and risk management.

    · Clear grasp of latest regulatory developments and key current issues facing regulated firms

    · Ability to produce and deliver high quality technical analysis, using excellent oral / written communication skills and demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge

    · Proven track record in sales and building client relationships demonstrating networking and influencing skills

    · Experience of delivering significant regulatory projects, demonstrating planning and project management and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions for demanding clients

    · Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills and ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external network of contacts.

    · Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team of professional staff
