Financial Risk Management (FRM) is an integrated group comprised of our underlying Financial Services risk management, regulatory advisory and actuarial service areas. We have 160 UK-based advisers and are looking to grow to 200 in 2008.
We have recently merged with our corresponding German and Swiss practices to become the first European-wide risk practice of the Big Four. Each service area provides solutions to our clients in their underlying area of specialist knowledge and we work together in supporting our clients across the broad field of risk, governance and compliance issues that they face. Our focus is on providing commercially relevant advice underpinned by a thorough understanding of the underlying technical content. We work extensively with KPMG's other advisory service lines on supporting transactions, investigations and wider consulting engagements for our clients.
Responsibilities
Assisting in the delivery of client engagements, managing or working as a part of project team on client sites and day-to-day liaison with clients
Providing technical input to a number of projects including projects with other KPMG departments · Support senior management efforts to cultivate and maintain target client relationships, including assisting with proposals and pitching for new work
Drafting reports and making oral presentations of findings and recommendations
To work with other KPMG teams and provide technical input where necessary
People development and mentoring, including management of internal and client teams and providing feedback to staff on their performance on engagements
Depending on seniority, the successful candidate may be required either to take responsibility for a larger - possibly multi-disciplinary - engagement team or to manage small teams carrying out engagements
As well as project delivery responsibilities, the role will involve supporting other aspects of the team's work including sales and marketing, research and development of new services, and knowledge management.
The Individual
Degree and / or relevant professional qualification and relevant industry experience.
Knowledge of FSA Supervisory Framework focussing specifically on the ARROW assessment framework
Regulatory/ Operational Experience of COB (inc MCOB, ICOB, NewCOB)
Knowledge/ Experience of Governance and Systems and Controls regulation that affect our retail clients
Relevant Sectoral experience - Life/ Retail Banking/ GI
Practical knowledge/ experience of the FSA principle of TCF Knowledge regarding More Principle Based Regulation
Competency to conduct Skilled Person related regulatory investigations (e.g. s166 FSMA and market conduct related investigations)
Knowledge of products, the markets and leading practices in managing regulatory and compliance risks in the Life and Retail banking industries
Understanding the role of the regulator and advising clients on managing their relationship with the regulator e.g. ongoing supervision (inc. ARROW preparation), risk mitigation and dealing with enforcement
