For many organisations the management of contracted third parties is a key strategic business issue. This is reflected in an increasing focus on the level of outsourced activities and in the growth of partnerships, alliances and corporate networks based on sharing intellectual property.
Many organisations have extended their operations through licensing, franchising, outsourced manufacturing & distribution and through joint ventures.
The Intellectual Property & Contract Governance team bring together expertise from accounting, auditing, IT and forensic to meet the needs of our clients who have recognised management of these "self-reported relationships" as a significant business issue.
Our core services include:
Royalty and Licence Management Services where a client has royalty, licence or other income dependent on self reporting by a third party and is seeking to maximise revenue whilst protecting the relationship. Current clients include: software vendors, digital content owners, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and fashion brand owners.
Channel Management where a client is looking to leverage maximum value from its routes to market. Current clients include computer hardware vendors, telecommunication manufacturers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Procurement reviews where a client is looking to ensure that a supplier, customer or other business partner has complied with the financial terms of a business relationship.
Intellectual Asset Management where a client is looking to refine processes and controls around best practice IP management. For example, rationalisation / integration of a client's IP portfolio to help to understand what IP it owns, uses and protects, identify gaps in protection, plot future protection strategy, identify potential infringements of third party IP and ensure IP strategy is aligned with their overall business strategy
The majority of the work currently revolves around advice and execution of compliance programmes to ensure the accuracy of software usage, royalty and licence statements, rebate and other incentive schemes. Advice on the management of IP assets forms is another strong strand within the group.
